Tyler Smith is a visiting PhD student from the Department of Religious Studies at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Aarhus University has played an important role in his development as a scholar of the New Testament: He first visited in the summer of 2013 to take part in a seminar on trends in scholarship connected to the Fourth Gospel, and he returned in June of 2014 to take part in the conference “The Gospel of John as Genre Mosaic.”

Now with his dissertation (“The Role of Genre in Writing the Mind: A Comparative Study of the Fourth Gospel in its Literary Milieu”) well underway, he is looking forward to a return visit to Aarhus University.

“I am excited to be back in Aarhus for September and October to write and to share some of my research with friends old and new at the School of Culture and Society,” Tyler says.
