									<p>Join us for a public talk with <strong>Elena Kostyuchenko</strong> (b. 1987), a distinguished Russian investigative journalist and LGBTQ+ rights activist currently living in exile. She is the author of <em>I love Russia: Reporting from a lost country </em>and a longtime reporter for <em>Novaya Gazeta</em>, widely recognized for her fearless reporting on war, repression, corruption, and LGBTQ+ rights. Throughout her career, she has faced arrest, assault, and intimidation in retaliation for her work; in October 2022, while in exile in Munich, she survived a suspected poisoning attempt.</p>
<p>In this timely conversation, she will reflect on the realities of contemporary Russia, the human cost of conflict, and the role of journalism under authoritarianism. Her work stands as a powerful testament to the importance of courageous reporting in holding power to account and defending human rights.<br> <br> The talk is moderated by Elena<strong> </strong>Beliava, Teaching Associate Professor at Aarhus University and playwright.</p>
<p>This event is organized by Comparative Literature department (<a href="https://pure.au.dk/portal/en/organisations/f8a675a0-01db-47b3-80ae-c05972ecb122" target="_self">School of Communication and Culture</a>) and Global studies department (School of Culture &amp; Society), and is open to all interested students and staff at the university.</p>
