My PhD project is ''The North Sea, the Mediterranean and the Indian Ocean: Using ivory to reveal long-distance trade networks in the early medieval period''. Full details of my project can be found here.

I hold a BA (Hons) in Archaeology from the University of Newcastle and an MPhil in Medieval Archaeology from the University of Cambridge. 

 

Research

My research interests include: 

The funerary archaeology of early medieval Northern Europe.

The archaeology of ivory and the ivory trade. 

Long-distance trade in the 1st millennium CE. 

Assemblage theory and raw material agency. 

The manufacture and use of osseous material culture. 

The interface between archaeology, archaeological science and the media. 

Teaching activities
