In recent years, the principles of landscape ecology have begun to be adopted by marine science opening a new field of research called seascape ecology. Seascape ecology seeks to understand the "pattern-process-scale relations" of the ocean; that is, the ways in which underwater spatial patterns of life (patches) are connected in time and space (process) at multiple levels (scales). This BLUE Readings seminar will try to understand some of the key principles of seascape ecology in natural science and discuss their applicability for blue humanities and multispecies anthropology.
Time: Wednesday 12 October 2022, 5.00 to 7.00 pm
Venue: Moesgaard (4235, 133) and on Zoom
For this Blue Readings seminar, we will be reading the following text:
- Pittman, Simon (2018) Introducing Seascape Ecology in Seascape Ecology. Pittman, Simon J., ed. 2018. Pp. 3-25. Oxford: Wiley Blackwell.
