"Even if the notion of the Nordic Middle Ages as a so-called ‘Golden Age’ has been debunked om several occasions, it nevertheless continues to affect, excessively but not exclusively, public history narratives about the medieval past. In this presentation, I explore how this notion affects both our present realities and present-day understandings of the past. This exploration will be achieved through selected case studies that examine visualised representations of mythologised history and shared cultural heritage. Emphasising the intricate interplay between concepts such as repatriation, colonial dissonance, historical discourse and contested heritage, the presentation aims to navigate the multifaceted dynamics that define our perceptions of Nordic medieval historical narratives."

The lecture will be held in Preben Hornungstuen at Studenterhuset. The following reception is in building 1461 room 516.

Registration is not required.
