This presentation presents ethnography collected since 2014 among poor Roma families who travel between Romania and Denmark. The children in these families are usually left behind in Romania, under the care of elderly relatives, when the parents travel to Denmark to live in homelessness and work with scrap collection. In this presentation, Camilla describes the hopes, dreams and ambivalent decisions that have influenced the relationships between the parents and their children over the course of the past eight years.
