AUNA is a centre for research on the North Atlantic and Arctic, with the humanities at its core. We bring together researchers from different fields to explore social, cultural, historical, and political change in the region, in close collaboration with local communities, institutions, and partners.
The North Atlantic and Arctic are undergoing rapid transformations, from environmental change and resource challenges to shifting political relations and increased international attention. Understanding these developments requires research that is collaborative, locally grounded, and attentive to the perspectives and knowledge of the people who live in the region.
At AUNA, we wish to provide a space for researchers to meet, share ideas, and develop collaborative projects across disciplines and sectors. Our work covers themes such as culture and history, social relations, health and inclusion, climate and environmental change, and the legacies of colonialism and governance.
We support both early-career and established researchers, and aim to strengthen the role of the humanities in Arctic and North Atlantic research. Our goal is to build a research environment that produces knowledge together with, and for, the societies of the region.
