Other Events

23rd April, 17:00-19:00, Kunstmuseum Brandts og Nordic Humanities Center, Odense C.

Can art create space for conversation in a time of polarisation?

The event centres on the photographic practice of Inuuteq Storch – whose work was featured in the Danish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2024 – and explores the artistic, political, and cultural conversations his images open up. Just to note: this is an event about the artist, not with him.

The panel of discussants:

• Louise Wolthers (Hasselblad Foundation)

• Kathrin Maurer (University of Southern Denmark)

• Svea Bräunert (University of Bonn)

• Gry Lind Merrild (Aarhus University)

will discuss Storch’s work in relation to polarisation, decolonisation, and global awareness – and reflect on how art can foster connection across geographical and cultural distances. Read more and register here: https://www.sdu.dk/da/updates/891a9db9-0549-444b-b466-1325afb207dc?sc_lang=en

24th April: 13:00–14:00 (GMT+2), Online

Conferences, collaborations, and publications in the US

As researchers in Arctic contexts, we are facing difficult choices about engagement with the United States. Should we continue collaborating to support colleagues, or take distance in response to the current political climate? Concerns around travel, safety, and unequal vulnerabilities complicate these decisions. At the same time, opting out is not equally possible—especially for early career researchers reliant on conferences and publications. Who can afford to disengage, and at what cost? What alternatives exist?

This online session invites a focused, open discussion on how to navigate these tensions together.
