Dr. Sigrun Høgetveit Berg is visiting researcher at CVM autumn 2022

This autumn Centre for the Viking Age and the Middle Ages have the pleasure of hosting visiting researcher Dr. Sigrun Høgetveit Berg at the department of history.

Dr. Sigrun Høgetveit Berg, førsteamanuensis i eldre historie ved UiT Noregs arktiske universitet i Tromsø // Associate Professor in Medieval History at UiT.

"I primarily work with the late Middle Ages and the Reformation, and my research interests concentrate on church and religious history, the relationship between church and society, and general older North Norwegian history.

In 2014 I defended a thesis on Trondenes kannikgjeld (the northern power center of the arch seat of Nidaros) between 1350 and 1620, then I was a post.doc on the project The Protracetd Reformation in Northern Norway and until last year I was the leader of the interdisciplinary research group Creating the New North at UiT.

For a whole year I had a research period, and now I am working on very different writing projects related to the research efforts around Magnus Lagabøte's land law, donations in the Lybian Bergenfahrer's will at Bryggen in Bergen, and a chapter on Sami and Inuit people for the new Handbook of Medieval Scandinavia, 700-1537."

Sigrun Høgetveit Berg is visiting researcher at CVM from September 1th to December 1th, 2022.
