About the programme

The Health Transitions research program facilitates interdisciplinary conversation and exploration of the transitions and challenges that currently impact both global and local healthcare systems and dominant forms of knowledge on health, disease and care. The program supports frontline research as well as practice development and healthcare innovation. Focusing on care, well-being and knowledge production, the program pursues the following and kindred questions:

• How do we conceptualize and provide equitable care in a complex and accelerating world and how do ideals of equity or ‘good care’ translate (or fail to translate) into practice?
• How are mental health and well-being produced, recognized, and managed through biosocial processes, and how do these processes become visible or invisible in everyday life?
• How are current forms of medical knowledge on what counts as health or disease transformed and challenged by biosocial, technological and environmental conditions and perspectives?

The program gathers a broad range of disciplines from the humanities and the health sciences and builds partnerships with municipal and regional healthcare institutions, health authorities and NGOs. It builds on the premise that frontline-research must take place along the faultlines where biological, structural, and social conditions intersect. Here, interdisciplinary conversations that in-clude the humanities are essential to ensure that neither biological nor structural conditions, nor understandings of human subjectivity and sociality, are unduly reduced.
