We are delighted to open our Call for Papers for the 15th Annual Aarhus Student Symposium on Viking and Medieval Scandinavian Subjects! If you are a student at any level, from BA to PhD, working on Viking and Medieval Scandinavia, we would like to invite you to submit a proposal for a 20-minute paper presentation. Relevant subject areas may include, but are not limited to:

  • Archaeology
  • History
  • Literature
  • Mythology
  • History of religion
  • Art history
  • Memory and reception studies
  • Gender and queer theory

The 2022 symposium will take place online. The theme for the symposium will be TRANSGRESSION. We therefore encourage paper proposals which reflect this theme. Papers on this topic might involve travel and migration, networks, gender perceptions and magic, but the theme is left open to your interpretation.

Please submit proposed titles and abstracts of 250 words, alongside a brief biography containing your name, institution and programme of study, and pronouns, to the Organising Committee at studentsymposiumaarhus@gmail.com no later than January 24th, 2022.

The Symposium can be found at Viking and Old Norse website and on Facebook. Feel free to contact us with questions.
