Anne Sophie will be working on the Horizon ERC project ‘REPRO-SCAPES: A Novel Approach to New Family-Forms, Assisted Reproductive Technologies and Transnationalism. A multi-sited ethnography: Spain, Denmark, Canada and Israel’ led by Ana Bravo Moreno at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).
I hold a PhD from the Department of Global Studies at Aarhus University and was previously a postdoctoral researcher at the Research Unit for General Practice in Aarhus. My research has centered on the Danish welfare state, health promotion initiatives, health professionals (especially visiting children’s nurses and GPs), citizen-state interaction and parenting practices and ideals. Thus, my research interests keep bringing me to the intersection of medical anthropology, kinship studies and anthropology of the state. I am particularly interested how the state influence private matters such as reproduction and family life as well as in questions of uncertainty, trust and belonging – to families, countries and states. I look forward to exploring several of these themes further through REPRO-SCAPES.
The research project ‘REPRO-SCAPES’ examines assisted reproductive technologies (ARTs) and new family forms in a transnational perspective. It explores the circulations of reproductive technologies, ideas and bodily materials across Europe, North America and the Middle East focusing on how they take form in Spain, Denmark, Canada and Israel, countries at the forefront of ARTs and Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR). I will lead the Danish part of the project, focusing especially on the experience of children conceived through ARTs.
I will be collaborating with Kim Glück, Anna Bettini, Francisco Javier Ogáyar Marín and Ana Bravo Moreno, who are leading the project in Israel, Canada and Spain, respectively.
