Thomas Hylland Eriksen is an anthropologist and writer based at the Department of Social Anthropology, University of Oslo. For many years, he has studied and written about identity, politics, ethnicity, nationalism and globalization from a comparative perspective. He is a keen public debater who has also published polemical books on the cultural complexity of Norway.
