This is a question hard to answer even if modern technology allows us to execute digital searches on texts reckoned to be influenced by the Bible. However, retrieving a biblical allusion foremost depends on the ability of the modern researcher, who needs to be well-aware that authors and readers of old texts are far more capable to see and understand biblical references in what they produced and used. This picture gets more blurred when we are dealing with translated texts or texts composed in other languages. Exactly such a picture emerges in the Manichaean corpus of writings, which has been scrutinized by the members of the Biblia Manichaica project. The project has detected Bible quotations and allusions in Manichaean texts in such diverse languages as Arabic, Coptic, Greek, Iranian, and Syriac. The lecture thus aims to present our practical method when retrieving Bible allusions in these texts.
