Archaeology and Heritage Practice
There are a number of reasons behind why we choose to collect, conserve and interpret tangible representations of the archaeological record.
These include: practical reasons such as education and the maintenance of the raw materials of study; emotional reasons such as enhancing life’s quality and nostalgia; and political reasons such as national solidarity of the nation state.
These practices of ‘heritage’ have a profound impact on the way we interact with archaeology and what we select as having value.
