The Danish Forum for Renaissance Studies and the Cultural Encounter project, Carlsberg Foundation, invites you to join us for the colloquium Meaningful Memories.

Drawing on themes from cultural memory studies we will explore how memory as a concept can be used to shed light on the tension field between canon and archives in the Early Modern period. We will study the tension between the actual use of texts, practices and models, and the potential of the full body of material in existence. In doing so, we will discuss memory as passive or active praxis; the relationship between sources and contexts of interpretation - especially how selection, interpretation, presentation and preservation affect this relationship; and memory as including or excluding praxis.

Participation is free and includes light refreshments. Due to practical reasons we do request that you register by sending an email to klftjah@cas.au.dk no later than March 15th.

The colloquium will be held in English.
