Anooshe Kafash - New Postdoc at the Department of Acheaology and Heritage Studies

Anooshe Kafash is a postdoc at CAS from 1 December and will be studying Neanderthal biogeography and ecology

I am a young researcher specializing in biogeography, archaeology and palaeoanthropology. I did a PhD in Environmental Science focusing on application of Species Distribution Models (SDMs) and GIS for studying past, current and future distribution of different taxonomic groups including large mammals and ancient humans. I spent around one year as a visiting researcher at ETH Zurich in Switzerland to get familiar with advanced SDMs methods and GIS. I applied SDMs in historical biogeography, palaeoecology and recently with particular focus in archaeology and palaeoanthropology. As a postdoctoral researcher at Aarhus University, I will study Neanderthal biogeography and ecology.
