I am currently writing a book on Feeling Dusk. What I hope to show is that dusk is only partially an object of inquiry, whose properties reveal the urgency of our planetary environmental crisis. Dusk is also an atmosphere of emotions, of being/becoming, and of a complex set of human and beyond human intimacies.
I teach courses on Migration/Mobility, Queer Studies, Brazilian Culture, Darkness, and Social Theory. All courses are informed by experience-based fieldwork and global scholarship.
Over the past three decades, I have collaborated with several (peri)urban communities and local scholars in São Paulo, Brazil, Lisbon, Portugal, and Praia, Cape Verde. I have collaborated with local migration activists and institution leaders in Aarhus, Denmark as well. I plan on more extended collaborations with migrant artists in Brazil and communities interested in the effects of artificial lighting in Denmark and Brazil, respectively.
