Teachers from Global Studies, AU participating in CircleU Conference

Galina, Jiro, Vivek and Chun attended a 3-day conference at UCLouvain, Belgium and had a great chance to share some good teaching practices.

From January 29-31, 2025, Galina Starikova (Russian studies), Jiro Tomioka (Japan Studies), Vivek Kumar Shukla (South Asian Studies), and Chun Zhang (China Studies) attended a CircleU conference at UCLouvain, Belgium, on Mobilizing Language Learners and Teachers.

Jiro presented on the COIL project in an academic presentation course, examining student perceptions of online collaboration. Chun was shortlisted for the ‘stand-and-tell’ session, discussing AI tools in advanced Danish and Chinese L2 learning. These two presentations were well received among the teachers from various universities, fostering heated discussions on AI’s roles (ChatGPT & Deep Seek) in language teaching.

We had a great chance to share some good teaching practices and connect teachers from various universities from CircleU and other universities. It was a great learning experience for all of us, and we hope we’ll continue collaborating with teachers from CircleU about language teaching under the impact of AI era.
