Elizabeth Dessie - New Postdoc at the Department of Anthropology

Elizabeth Dessie will be joining the ‘Mobilities, Imaginaries & Articulations (MIA): Revisioning the African City from the Periphery’ project.

Elizabeth is a human geographer whose research encompasses themes related to youth transitions and gendered livelihood strategies in African urban contexts.

She holds a PhD from the University of Gothenburg and was previously a Postdoctoral Fellow at the African Cities Research Consortium at the University of Manchester.

She is joining the ‘Mobilities, Imaginaries & Articulations (MIA): Revisioning the African City from the Periphery’ project, where her research will draw on multimodal, participatory methods and tools to explore the geospatial, multisensory nature of young people’s lives in Mathare, one of the largest informal settlements in East Africa.
