Rowan English - New postdoc at the Department of Archeology and Heritage Studies

Rowan English is affiliated the Milestone project and will be studying the objects and graves at the early medieval cemetery at Lindholm Høje.

Rowan is an archaeologist of the first millennium CE and a specialist on the funerary archaeology of the North Sea Region and objects of elephant ivory.

He also has an interest in global processes in the past (such as past globalisation) and circular economic practices in the past. He holds a PhD from Aarhus University (2025) in the Late Antique and early medieval elephant ivory trade, and holds degrees from the University of Cambridge (MPhil) and Newcastle (BA).

Rowan is employed as a postdoctoral on the Milestone project (PI Associate Prof. Sarah Croix) to study the objects and graves at the early medieval cemetery at Lindholm Høje, paying particular attention to the sites chronology and outward connections.
