Submissions to Proceedings

General Information

(1) The Proceedings of this conference will appear in the series Frontiers of Artificial Intelligence and Applications with IOS Press, Amsterdam.

(2) The Proceedings will be prepared before the conference and finalized shortly after.  The deadline for submissions to the Proceedings is October 1, 2022. (Please note that this is a hard deadline, exceptions will be very difficult to accommodate). Please read the entire page carefully to see which 'Category' of author you are, which determines the 'Type of submission' open to you.

(3)  We accept only submissions to the Proceedings that are based on oral presentations (session talks, workshop talks, and posters) at the conference. In order to be able to submit to the Proceedings authors need to be (i) registered at the conference and (ii) have given an oral presentation of the paper at the conference (exemptions from (ii) due to illness or other impeding circumstances are possible).

(4) Types of submissions. There are 5 types of submissions:

  1. short abstracts (500 words),
  2. short papers (6 - 10 pages in the template)
  3. poster papers (4 - 6 pages in the template)
  4. workshop descriptions (between 4 - 8 pages in the template)
  5. long abstracts (2 - 4 pages in the template ).
  • Note: maximal page limits are strict.

(5) Categories of authors. Which type(s) of submissions are are possible for depends on which 'category of author' you are, i.e., which role you had at the conference.  There are 5 categories of authors:

  • Category A: keynote/plenary speakers are asked to release their webpage abstracts, possibly extending them up to 500 words; but may also submit long abstracts or short papers
  • Category B: session speakers must submit short papers to have their work included (exception: for ongoing empirical work long abstracts may be submitted)
  • Category C: poster presenters must submit poster papers to have their work included (exception: for ongoing empirical work long abstracts may be submitted)
  • Category D: workshop organizers submit workshop descriptions. (see below how to revise your original submission)
  • Category E: workshop speakers must submit short abstracts, and may in addition submit a long abstract or short paper.

(6)  All submissions to the Proceedings in Categories B-E will undergo a second review.

  • For short papers  or long abstracts submitted in Category B,  this second review will be mainly editorial; the editors expect that papers are revised in accordance with suggestions of the first review (within bounds of space and reasonableness). As you prepare your final submissions,  please note that it might be good to consult the previous Proceedings of RP to ensure that your paper reflects the current state of research in robophilosophy: Proceedings from Robophilosophy 2020,  Robophilosophy 2018, Robophilosophy 2016, Robophilosophy 2014

(7) It is possible to submit a short paper to the Proceedings and a longer paper to the other publication venues that the conference organizers will prepare, as long as there is not more than 30% direct textual overlap.  Detailed information about the additional publication venues (anthologies and special issues) will be distributed in personal mail, open call, under 'Publication' on this website, and via the TRANSOR research network.

Formal and practical aspects

  1. The general submission deadline is Oct. 1.Please submit the  final version ("new version") via EasyChair, putting https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=rp2022 into your browser to update your existing submission (or, if you are a workshop participant, please create a new submission indicating the workshop your presentation was part of, unless your workshop organizers suggest a different procedure).
  2. Please prepare your papers using the following templates and formatting requirements:
  3. Your paper should be 6 to max 10 pages in the template, including references
  4. Your paper should please be checked for grammar and style by a native speaker of English. (2) Submissions of Workshop Descriptions for publication in the Proceedings (for authors in Category D)

You need to update the workshop description that you originally submitted.  The final description of the workshop should have the following two parts:  1. A description with sections  “Topics and Aims”, “Motivations” etc, (according to your discretion) and a few lines on the results of the discussion (e.g., directions for future research).  Main point of the updating: You do not need to include the practical information (format, length of talks, etc) that was part of your original submission, unless this is contentwise important.  2. Contributions.  Here you list short abstracts (about 500 words) and short biographical information (about 200 words; ‘about the speaker’) of the contributions.
