The project ROLES (“Robot-Mediated Learning and Socratic Robotics: Exploring New Forms of Sociality in Tutoring and Self-Edification”) will conduct experiments on human-robot interaction, specifically to explore the relationship between communicational format, sociality experience (phenomenologically and neuroscientifically), and type of cognitive function facilitated. The results will be related to larger socio-cultural and ethical questions about the use of robots in education and (public and domestic) contexts of edification. The research, which will be conducted by an interdisciplinary group of researchers from philosophy, psychology, anthropology, neuroscience, and robotics, follows methodologically the approach of Integrative Social Robotics (ISR). The project is supported by the Independentl Research Fund Denmark.
