Ed Armitage - New Postdoc at the Department of Philosophy and History of Ideas
Ed Armitage started as a Postdoc on 1 March. His general research interests are in philosophy of mind and philosophy of emotion.

I recently completed my PhD in philosophy at the University of Sheffield, where my research was focused on developing an account of the nature of worry, and the conditions under which worrying is rational or irrational. During this time, I was awarded a Jacobsen Studentship by the Royal Institute of Philosophy. After finishing my PhD I spent four months working as a research assistant to Rowland Stout on his project 'Passion In Action' at University College Dublin.
My general research interests are in philosophy of mind and philosophy of emotion. Aside from the topic of worry, I’m also interested in the more general relationship between emotion, cognition and rationality. I have published work on both of these topics. I’m currently focused on developing new perspectives on irrational thinking.
