Ph.D. Trine Kellberg Nielsen from Aarhus University is the winner of this year’s Price for research into Prehistory and Quaternary Ecology (Förderpreis für Ältere Urgeschichte und Quartärökologie) at the University of Tübingen in Germany. The archeologist is being honored for her dissertation entitled “Northern Neanderthals: A systematic assessment of the possibility of pre-modern human occupation of southern Scandinavia”. The advancement award for Prehistory and Quaternary Ecology, worth EUR 5,000, is made available by Romina Eiszeitquelle GmbH and is being presented for the 19th time this year. The money is not restricted to research related expenses, but is a personal award.

In addition to the prize money, Trine Kellberg Nielsen is expected to publish a paper on her work in Mitteilungen der Gesellschaft für Urgeschichte. Trine defended her Ph.D. dissertation in October 2016 and is currently a Postdoc at the Centre for Biocultural History at Aarhus University.
