Aarhus Universitets segl

Aviaaja Lennert Olsen - New Research Assistant at the Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies

Aviaaja Lennert Olsen startet her position on 1 February and is affiliated the project "Colonial Legacies of Universities: Materialities and New Collaborations” (COLUMN)".

I am an Indigenous Inuk from Greenland, coming from a small town called Sisimiut, the first town above the Arctic Circle.

Towards gaining my Masters in Sustainability and Heritage from Aarhus University in 2025, my field of interests in academia has been decoloniality, intangible cultural heritage, Indigenous peoples rights and the implementation of their epistemologies onto Western academia and academic institutions as well as the equalization of Indigenous Traditional Knowledge in academia.

I wish to be able to contribute to COLUMN with hopes to enhance equality and unravel truths in all parts of history for us all and the next to be able to work in academic spaces without resistance.
