ChinGram Workshop Brings Chinese Language Teachers Together at Aarhus University

Aarhus, 28 August 2026— A ChinGram workshop at Aarhus University spotlighted the use of digital tools in teaching Chinese grammar, gathering 20 educators from Denmark and the Nordic region. The event, “Teaching Chinese Grammar via Digital Tools – Experience Sharing and Hands-on Exercises,”was funded by the EU (Project ID: 2023-1-CZ01-KA220-HED-000157248) and hosted by the School of Culture and Society. Participants from upper secondary schools to universities shared insights and tested digital teaching methods, both in-person and online.

Dr. Chun Zhang and Dr. Lene Sønderby Bech of Aarhus University’s China Studies organized a workshop introducing the ChinGram project, a tailored resource featuring 100 Danish-language grammatical points, exercises, and a teacher’s guide designed for local students. The session began with participant introductions, setting the stage for a focused exploration of grammar teaching adapted to Danish learners.

Dr. Michaela Zahradnikova of Palacký University Olomouc delivered a keynote, “Grammar Learning Across Culture: Implications for Teaching,”examining how diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds shape approaches to Chinese grammar—and what it means for educators.

The workshop also placed a strong emphasis on practical application. Participants worked in groups on a series of hands-on exercises, discussing teaching challenges and exploring how digital tools can be used to make Chinese grammar more accessible, interactive and engaging for Danish learners.
