Gian Battista Marras - New postdoc at the Department of Arheaology and Heritage Studies

Gian Battista Marras is currently part of the Wolin Project where he investigates the palaeogeography of the Wolin River delta

Gian Battista Marras is a Post-Doctoral Researcher specialising in geoarchaeology. His work integrates macro- and microscopic analyses of soils, sediments, and landforms with archaeological records to reconstruct past landscapes and explore the anthropogenic forcings on environmental change.
He is currently part of the Wolin Project (PI: S.M. Sindbæk), where he investigates the palaeogeography of the Wolin River delta, focusing on its relationship to Viking Age harbour infrastructures and Medieval climate and sea-level fluctuations. He completed his PhD at the Department of Archaeology, University of Cambridge, and was previously a Rome Fellow at the British School at Rome.
