Isak Roalkvam - New postdoc at the Department of Archeaology and Heritage Studies
Isak Roalkvam will undertake a MSCA postdoctoral fellowship with a project titled “Modelling the earliest human settlement along the Kattegat-Skagerrak circumference”.
My name Isak Roalkvam and I am very much looking forward to starting my MSCA postdoctoral fellowship at the Department of Culture and Society. My background is a MA in archaeology from the University of Oslo, where I also achieved my PhD in 2024 and have been working as a senior lecturer in archaeology for the last year. In addition to this, I also hold a MSc in Computational Archaeology from University College London. The combination of an interest in the Scandinavian Stone Age and the use of computational methods forms the foundation for the project I will undertake at AU, which is entitled “Modelling the earliest human settlement along the Kattegat-Skagerrak circumference”.
The project builds on the work I did for my PhD, consisting of analysing the relationship between settlement patterns and past sea-level change, and will combine this with the theoretical and methodological advances that prof. Felix Riede, the supervisor for my project, and his team in the CLIOARCH project at AU have achieved over the last few years.
