Research
My research focuses on Chinese politics and society, public opinion and political participation in authoritarian regimes, and everyday governance in (post-)communist contexts. Methodologically, I employ a mixed-methods approach, combining methods such as fieldwork, interviews, statistical analysis, and machine learning. At Aarhus University, I am the PI of an AUFF Starting Grant project on voluntary compliance. I also participate in the AIAS collaborative theme group “When Politics Meets Business.”

Teaching
My teaching covers three areas: Chinese politics, society, and history; research methods; and global challenges. In courses on China, Chinese-language sources are integrated into content-focused instruction. Research methods are taught using a project-based approach, with topics such as youth drinking that connect to students’ experiences. For global challenges, a range of perspectives are included to illustrate how concepts like sustainability are understood across different contexts.
