From shelterbelts to tree-planting campaigns to decision trees in machine learning, arboreal agents have played central roles in urban and regional governance. In this new talk, part of a larger project on “arboreal media,” I’ll examine how the deep roots of urban flora map onto computational topologies of urban design, governance, community engagement, and resilience.
