Cara Loomis - New Postdoc at the Department of Archeology and Heritage Studies

Cara Loomis investigates how the work of women in pastoral societies forms the indirect, often hidden, social fabric that knits together a relational system of resilient grazing commons

Cara Loomis will work as MSCA postdoc for the next two years together with Maria Louw and Mette Løvschal, as well as being associated with the ANTHEA project.

Cara investigates how the work of women in pastoral societies forms the indirect, often hidden, social fabric that knits together a relational system of resilient grazing commons. The project is predicated on extensive ethnographic research Turkmenistan that suggests the role of women as daughters, sisters, wives, and mothers is essential for maintaining the networks of trust and obligation that underlie otherwise male-dominated pastoral activities related to the management of grazing ‘resources’.
