Chloe Anne Stringer - New research assistant at the Department of Archeology and Heritage Studies

Chloe Anne Stringer will be affiliated the the Ginnerup Project as a Research Assistant applying sclerochronology to shells excavated from the site

Chloe Stringer is a final year PhD researcher at The University of Melbourne, Australia. Her PhD research investigates past human-mollusc-environment relationships along a major river in south-east Australia.

To do this, she primarily uses the technique known as sclerochronology, which involves the geochemical and physical analysis of growth lines in mollusc shells, but also incorporates information from other methods, such as radiocarbon dating, nutritional analysis, and Traditional Ecological Knowledge.

Chloe previously completed a MSc Osteoarchaeology at The University of Sheffield, UK, where she studied zooarchaeology, focusing on bird bones. Chloe also has archaeological excavation experience in Australia, the UK and Israel. She is excited to be starting a position as Research Assistant on the Ginnerup Project, applying sclerochronology to shells excavated from the site.
