Keynote speaker dr. Asimina Michailidou, senior researcher at the ARENA Centre for European Studies at the University of Oslo

The Section of European Studies at Aarhus University presents the results of the ongoing student research project ‘Communicating Europe’, on May 10th 2016. The topic of the conference is the social media usage in and by the European Parliament in a framework of EU’s democratic deficit. The presentations provide fresh and original insights into the various forms of social media employed by MEPs, by political groups and the EP as an institution to communicate Europe and the EU between 2014-2016.

Dr. Asimina Michailidou, senior researcher at the ARENA Centre for European Studies at the University of Oslo, will introduce the conference theme with a key note lecture on social media and its influence on the public communication dynamics and power relations between political actors, journalists, citizens and organized civil society (9.15-11 AM). This will be followed by presentations by the MA-students at European Studies.

Nobel Parc, Jens Chr. Skous vej 5, 8000 Aarhus C, Buliding 1461, room 516. The event runs from 9-5 PM.
